Our leadership team

Karen Hughes Maddison

Founder and Managing Director

Karen is a founding partner of Drum and a consumer and B2B marcomms specialist with some seventeen years’ experience.  She started Drum after working in top ten UK PR agencies including Porter Novelli and Hill & Knowlton, on brands including Kellogg’s, Chivas Regal, Skoda, VW, Apple and ASDA.

Karen has worked on a broad range of clients that span property, retail, food and drink, consumer tech, professional services, finance and insurance and fleet and automotive.

Karen’s favourite piece of work was leading a five-year corporate, trade and consumer marcomms campaign for AutoTrader. Drum was appointed as the Group’s lead marketing agency and the team worked closely with the events manager, editorial, sales and digital teams.

Karen and the team helped establish Autotrader as the UK’s largest motoring website with over 10m+ monthly website users. Auto Trader was a demanding client and Karen demonstrated huge amounts of resolve to get the job done.

Karen is responsible for driving the strategic development and growth of Drum; setting, reviewing, and improving client service standards; and hands-on client handling.

Jacob has worked in marketing, specialising in digital, social media and content, and has become a leader in shaping and defining how brands can use social media to grow their businesses, including fashion, leisure, lifestyle and automotive brands.

Jacob leads the digital and social media team at Drum and is passionate about social media and video marketing.  Having used TikTok, Instagram and Facebook for almost a decade, Jacob is an expert on delivering successful and measurable social media campaigns for clients.
